It was an empire that endured for more than a thousand years, and its influence, especially on western culture, can still be felt everywhere – in our political systems, our laws, our calendar, our architecture, the planning of our cities, in the Romance languages of Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian, and in our alphabet. Rome has left an indelible mark on the world. Imagine you had the chance to hold sway over ancient Rome.
